Deep Roots Through Repetition

Deep Roots Through Repetition

I recently was spending time in the book of Philippians trying to gather as much knowledge and wisdom from Paul as I could.
What I learned was...

Paul is trying to get the people of Philippi to sink deep roots into the reality of what Jesus has done for us.  He uses structure and repetition, so that they will be able to live transformed lives. He is trying to compel them to form a community that “shines as stars” in the midst of a darkened world and to be filled with peace and unity as they share the Gospel with the world.

In Haiti, our teachers use repetition and structure also to teach scripture. They will sing and chant and sing some more, the same Bible verses over and over. It's the most beautiful noise to witness. Listening to these little voices sing words straight out of the BIble makes my heart smile. The beauty of it is... they are "shining as stars" because there are a lot of people in the area that still practice VooDoo. The darkness is real, but Jesus is speaking through the mouths of Babes. As Scripture hangs in the air, our prayers are that more and more people will be saved.

Philippians 4:4.  "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!"
